David B. Herring is the principal of Herring Realty Advisors. He is a native of Central Kentucky where he began his career in real estate appraisal. David attended St. Catherine College in Springfield, KY and later graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY with a degree in computer design.

In 1998, David took a position at an appraisal firm in his hometown of Harrodsburg, KY. At this first firm David gained extensive experience in valuing residential, commercial, and agricultural properties primarily in Central and Southcentral Kentucky, but valued properties statewide. Completed assignments were for both mortgage lending and litigation purposes. David completed numerous Market Rent Studies for Section 8 apartment complexes across the state of Kentucky. 

In 2003, David formed his own appraisal firm in central Kentucky with the primary focus of the firm being residential and commercial mortgage appraisals across central Kentucky. In 2007, David decided to increase his knowledge and level of professionalism in the appraisal field and joined the Appraisal Institute, a global professional association of real estate appraisers, with over 16,000 professionals in almost 50 countries throughout the world. To remain an active member of the Appraisal Institute, one must adhere to ethical and professional standards, stay informed of requirements pertaining to their practice, and complete continuing education to stay up-to-date on trends and changes related to real property valuation. In 2012, David received his SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute. The SRA designation represents a commitment to sound and ethical professional practice in the field of residential property valuation, supported by rigorous education and experience requirements and ongoing continuing education to remain informed on the latest trends and changes. 

In 2013, David relocated with his family to central Florida and increased the firm’s focus on working for non-lending clients, litigation support, and review work for lenders while gaining the AI-RRS residential review designation from the Appraisal Institute. The AI-RRS designation is a mark of expertise in providing appraisal reviews for residential properties, held by professionals with extensive education and specialized experience in residential real property reviews. In early 2016, David completed the requirements and gained the prestigious MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. The MAI designation is a mark of excellence in real estate valuation, held by professionals with extensive commercial property experience and knowledge who can provide valuation and analysis for all property types, supported by rigorous education and experience requirements, and ongoing continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and changes in the field, and is widely recognized and respected by courts, government agencies, financial institutions, and investors. Later in 2016, David earned the AI-GRS general appraisal review designation in the summer of 2016. The AI-GRS designation is a mark of expertise in providing appraisal reviews for a wide range of property types, held by professionals with extensive education and specialized experience in commercial real property reviews.

David's vast experience includes residential and commercial property valuations for mortgages and individuals, construction defects, diminution in value, and valuing properties for estates, trusts, and for marketing purposes. He has extensive experience with quality control reviews of residential and commercial properties for lenders and reviews of residential appraisals for nationwide residential backed mortgage securities (RMBS) litigation. David also has experience in valuing various classes of agricultural properties including pasture farms, crop farms, recreational farms, dairy farms, poultry farms, permanent plantings (blueberries, citrus, etc.), and specialty agricultural properties like nurseries and greenhouses. David was an active volunteer with the East Florida Chapter and Region X of the Appraisal Institute from 2013 until 2018.

In 2016, David wanted to diversify the firm and looked to use his years of experience in valuing real estate to aid buyers and sellers in the market and he gained his real estate sales license in Florida. In 2019, after years of experience and additional education David earned his real estate brokers license and became the managing broker of Herring Realty Advisors.

In 2020, David received his FAA commercial drone pilot license to add another layer of service to the property visit and data collection process for his clients. 

David and his wife Shannon have two daughters; Emma and Claire. They reside in a rural area of Lake County south of Tavares, Florida.
